Calasanz Physical Arts for Men

In the 80’s, the focus of women’s fitness was to create beautiful, sculpted bodies, in the 90’s, it was all about women becoming strong. Calasanz created a “physical arts” program that would be attractive to the female population, but also produce powerful results. This was the beginning of Calasanz Physical Arts. As far as the men’s fitness crowd goes, this program was overlooked at first.

A Men’s Fitness Alternative

Men in the school were not very interested in this “women’s fitness” program until they saw some startling results from their female counterparts. One guy was kicked so hard by a woman that he was out of commission for two months.

More guys in the dojo began to give this new men’s fitness program a try. The only modification that Calasanz has made for men is that some of the movements have been “masculinized” where necessary to make men more comfortable during their training.

A Program with Results

For Everyone - Calasanz Physical Arts is great exercise for men, women, and children’s fitness, all shapes, sizes, and abilities can perform these exercises with success.

Overall Body Workout - The exercises are performed with light ankle weights and dumbbells and done on the floor, ballet bar, special platform, or bench. This is holistic fitness training, so in the same exercise you are training strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, coordination, and muscle unity. Regular practice increases the power of your strikes, lengthens and elongates your body, relieves stress and increases your over all well being.

Self-Defense - Many of the exercises are functional, so you are actually learning specific martial arts techniques that are useful for self-defense.  And yes, as in many martial arts teachings, there are hidden secrets within the exercises for you to discover as you go along.

Fat Burning - The aerobic and anaerobic nature of these exercises helps men to burn fat, promotes weight loss and tones the entire body. Calasanz also incorporates core training into this program.
